How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Take your tablet 1 hour before a meal. Do not chew, break, or crush the tablet. Swallow it whole with a small amount of water.

Important

If you have severe liver problems, do not take more than one 20 mg tablet per day.

  • Blisters on the skin, worsening general condition, sores on eyes, nose, mouth/lips or genitals, sensitive skin or rash in sun-exposed areas. Joint pain or flu-like symptoms (fever, swollen lymph nodes).
  • Red, target-like or circular patches with blisters, peeling skin, sores in mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes. Widespread rash, high body temperature, and swollen lymph nodes.
  • Yellow skin or eyes (severe liver damage, jaundice), fever, rash, enlarged kidneys, sometimes with pain when urinating and lower back pain (severe kidney inflammation) which can lead to kidney failure.
  • Feeling confused about time and place (disorientation), hallucinations, confusion (especially if you have had these symptoms before).
  • Tingling, prickling, burning sensation, or numbness.
  • Inflammation of the large intestine, causing constant watery diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any other ingredient in it, or to other proton pump inhibitor medicines.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe liver problems or have had them before; your doctor may need to check your liver regularly.
  • Long-term use (over a year) may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures (hip, wrist, spine); tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are at risk.
  • If you take Somac for more than three months, your blood magnesium levels might drop, causing tiredness, muscle twitching, confusion, seizures, dizziness, or a fast heartbeat. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice these.
