How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 50 mg/kg/day.

Method

Shake the bottle well before each dose and take the medicine by mouth, divided into 2 or 3 doses for mild infections.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 50 mg/kg, divided into multiple doses.

  • Undefined inflammation of the vagina or external female genitalia
  • Low platelet count
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
  • Toxic psychosis
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Mouth inflammation
  • Bloody diarrhea
  • Colon inflammation (pseudomembranous colitis)
  • Slowed bowel function
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Severe skin diseases (e.g., Lyell's syndrome, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, pemphigus vulgaris)
  • Joint inflammation (arthritis)
  • Kidney inflammation with blood in the urine

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to cefalexin, other similar antibiotics (cephalosporins), or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have previously had a severe allergic reaction (such as a rash or swelling of the face and throat) to penicillins or other similar antibiotics.
  • Contact a doctor immediately if you develop a severe rash, skin peeling, blisters, or mouth sores.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have kidney problems, gut inflammation (colitis), or acute porphyria.
  • Tell your doctor if you have previously experienced a rash or other allergic symptoms with penicillins or other antibiotics.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
