How to Use

Dosage

Apply Herpolips 50 mg/g cream to the cold sore areas 5 times a day, about every four hours, but not at night.

Method

Apply a thin layer of the cream directly to the cold sore areas.

Important

Do not apply more than 5 times a day. The treatment typically lasts 5 days, but can be extended for up to another 5 days, for a maximum of 10 days in total.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary burning or stinging feeling where the cream is applied.
  • Mild drying or flaking of the skin.
  • Itching.
RARE
  • Skin reactions like redness or contact dermatitis after applying the cream.
  • Immediate severe allergic reactions, including angioedema (swelling of the tongue and/or face) and hives (urticaria).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this cream if you are allergic to acyclovir, valacyclovir, or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Do not use the cream on mucous membranes (like in your mouth, eyes, or vagina) to avoid irritation. Avoid getting it in your eyes.
  • If you have a very weak immune system (e.g., due to AIDS or a bone marrow transplant), talk to your doctor before using this cream.
  • This cream contains cetyl alcohol, which may cause skin irritation or local skin reactions (like contact dermatitis).
