Dermovat Scalp solution contains a strong corticosteroid (clobetasol propionate) that reduces skin redness, swelling, and irritation, used for psoriasis and other difficult scalp conditions when weaker medicines haven't worked.

How to Use

Dosage

Apply Dermovat Scalp solution 1-2 times daily; reduce frequency as your skin improves or as directed by your doctor.

Method

Ensure hair is dry before applying to the scalp. Open the cap, place the nozzle on the affected skin, gently squeeze the bottle, and spread a thin, even layer. You may rub it in or leave it.

Important

Do not exceed twice daily application unless specifically instructed by a doctor.

  • Pustular psoriasis (blisters with fluid under the skin)
  • Skin infection
  • Acne
  • In children: delayed weight gain
  • In children: slowed growth in height

  • Increased sugar in blood or urine
  • High blood pressure
  • Cloudy eye lens (cataracts)
  • Increased pressure inside the eye (glaucoma)
  • Vision problems (retinal detachment)
  • Fragile bones (osteoporosis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not cover the treated scalp area with bandages unless your doctor tells you to, as this can increase absorption and infection risk.
  • Use only for as long as your doctor prescribes; contact your doctor if your rash doesn't improve in 2-3 weeks.
  • Stop use and contact a doctor immediately if your skin becomes infected, or if your skin condition gets worse with redness and swelling.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other eye problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have new bone pain or worsening bone symptoms, especially with long-term use.

  • Do not use if you are allergic to clobetasol, other corticosteroids, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Avoid using for scalp infections or on children under one year old.
  • Tell your doctor about any other corticosteroid medicines or immune-suppressing drugs you are taking, as combining them can lead to serious infections.
  • Dermovat Scalp solution is flammable; avoid smoking or open flames during and immediately after application.
  • Avoid getting the solution in your eyes; if it gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. Do not apply to breasts if breastfeeding.
