emulsiovoide
Strength
0.5 mg/g
Active Ingredient
Clobetasol propionate
Manufacturer
GlaxoSmithKline Oy

How to Use

Dosage

Apply Dermovat 1-2 times a day; as your skin improves, you might use it less often or switch to milder creams as advised by your doctor.

Method

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin and rub it in gently; use only enough to cover the whole area, wash your hands after applying unless treating them, and let Dermovat soak in before using moisturizer.

Important

Do not use Dermovat daily for longer than three weeks at a time.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Itchy skin
  • Local burning or pain
RARE
  • Skin thinning, which can cause stretch marks or make small blood vessels visible
  • Weight gain, round face, or increased body hair
  • Worsening of skin problems, allergic reactions where applied, or skin infections
  • Eye problems like cataracts, glaucoma (increased eye pressure), or blurry vision
  • Changes in hormone levels (low cortisol), high blood sugar, high blood pressure, or bone weakening (osteoporosis)
  • For children, slowed weight gain or growth

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to clobetasol or any other ingredients, or for skin conditions like acne, rosacea, rash around the mouth, itchy skin not inflamed, or on genitals/anus, or for children under 1 year old.
  • Talk to your doctor if your skin infection gets worse, you have blurry vision, new bone pain, or if you use other corticosteroid medicines or immune-suppressing drugs.
  • Use with caution on your face, as it can thin the skin; avoid getting it in your eyes and rinse thoroughly with water if it happens.
  • Only use airtight dressings or bandages over Dermovat if your doctor tells you to, and clean the skin well before applying new dressings, especially on children's diapers.
  • Be careful around open flames and don't smoke while using Dermovat, as fabrics (clothes, bedding) that have touched the medicine can catch fire more easily.
