How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 5 mg three times a day.

Method

Take the tablets at the same time each day, either on an empty stomach or with food.

Important

Do not take more than 20 mg at once, and a maximum of 60 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or faintness, headache, drowsiness
  • Nervousness, sleeplessness, difficulty concentrating, depression, confusion, sleep disturbances, anger
  • Sensory disturbances, blurred vision, coordination problems, tremor, ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Fast heartbeat, chest pain
  • Stuffy nose, sore throat
  • Nausea, stomach pain, dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting
  • Cold sweats, rash
  • Muscle and bone pain
  • Fatigue
RARE
  • Numbness, stiffness
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of the mouth, face, or throat, bruises, hives)
  • Psychotic disorder, hallucinations, feeling unreal (depersonalization), mood swings
  • Serotonin syndrome, seizures, vision problems, involuntary movements, movement disorders, fainting, memory loss, restless legs syndrome, restlessness
  • Urinary retention
  • Milk discharge from breasts

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to buspirone hydrochloride or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver or kidney problems.
  • Do not use if you have poisoning caused by alcohol, sleeping pills, painkillers, or antipsychotic medicines.
  • Do not use if you have epilepsy.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, or drug dependence.

  • Be careful if you are taking other medicines that affect the central nervous system.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Avoid grapefruit juice and alcohol during treatment.

  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive and operate machines. Be careful until you know how the medicine affects you.
