How to Use

Dosage

Apply to infected skin areas 5 times a day, about every 4 hours, but not at night. Start treatment as soon as possible after the infection begins.

Spread a thin layer of cream on the infected skin area.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary burning or stinging sensation where the cream is applied.
  • Mild drying, flaking, or itching of the skin.
RARE
  • Skin reactions such as redness or contact rash after applying the cream.
  • Severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face or tongue (angioedema) and hives (urticaria).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not apply the cream to mucous membranes (e.g., mouth, eyes, vagina) or in the eyes.
  • If you have genital herpes, avoid sexual contact until sores or blisters have healed to prevent spreading the infection to your partner.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a weakened immune system (e.g., AIDS or a bone marrow transplant), as tablet treatment may be more suitable.
  • This medicine contains propylene glycol and cetyl alcohol, which can cause skin irritation. Do not use on infants under 4 weeks of age or on open/damaged skin areas without consulting a doctor.
